Adjusting Cats and Dogs
Both dogs and cats can benefit greatly from chiropractic adjustments. Clients usually contact me when their dog is limping, suffering from hind end weakness, and having trouble jumping and going up and down stairs. Along with providing relief for these dogs, chiropractic care can also help prevent these disorders from occurring.
It is less common for cats to present with a limp (although it does occur occasionally). Most cat owners contact me because their cat is suffering from digestive issues or chronic urinary tract infections. Cats tend to respond quickly to chiropractic care and generally require less treatments than other animals.
Adjusting has been shown to aid in the prevention of many disorders including luxating patellas, hip disorders, ACL injuries, herniated/ruptured discs, incontinence, hind end weakness/paralysis, allergies and chronic ear infections, to name a few. The majority of diseases seen in animals today are a result of poor nutrition, inadequate exercise, exposure to environmental toxins, stress, and a poorly functioning nervous system. The nervous system regulates every function in the body (organs, movement, ability to fight off diseases and the ability to heal from trauma). If this system is not communicating properly with the rest of the body, this can conrtibute to many different disorders. Dr. Angelique Barbara is certified as a Veterinary Chiropractitioners and Animal Chiro-technician and she is trained to find and correct these areas of miscommunication.
