Training Philosophy

My training methods incorporate the techniques of many natural horse trainers, such as Monty Roberts, John and Josh Lyons, Clinton Anderson, Ray Hunt and Craig Cameron.  I believe that a horse should be a willing partner that does what you ask of him because you are able to make him want to do it.  My training goal is to produce a quiet yet responsive horse that is willing and eager to work.

We are not currently taking horses for training at our Florida location. We are hoping to have facilities up and running soon.

I charge $500 per month for training colts (horses 3 yrs and younger) or tuning up older horses and $600 per month for working with problem horses.

Horses on my property are exposed to many different farm animals (including dogs, goats, pigs, and chickens) and receive daily turn-out on 1-3 acres. Price includes high quality bermuda-alfalfa mix hay. Your grain and supplements can be given if instructed. If you are interested, I can combine my hoof trimming with horse training to produce a sound, balanced and happy horse.

Training Background

I've been riding since I was a five year old in Massachusetts.  All of my early training was English and included training in dressage and show jumping.

At the age of 16, I purchased my first western horse and competed with him in western pleasure, trail and western riding.  During this time, I attended two Monty Robert’s join-up tours and I began utilizing his techniques with my horses.

After graduation, my horses and I moved to Tucson to major in Veterinary Science at the University of Arizona with a minor in equine science. During that time I converted completely to western riding and began working with a horse trainer named Chuck Thompson. I broke my first 2 year old during that time.

After completion of the BS I began graduate school (M.S. Pathobiology, 2006)  and bought 10 acres in Marana. I am currently working as a hoof trimmer and horse trainer.  I train and sell horses, currently owning 3 brood mares, several colts in training, several weanlings and 2 foals on the way.

All are APHA or AQHA with performance backgrounds.  My main interests are cutting, reining, working cow horse and ranch horse disciplines.
